IPS team attacking Messenger spacecraft data

The team of IPS faculty member Catherine Johnson, along with postdoctoral fellow Surdas Mohit and graduate student Hideharo Uno are working intensely on the exciting data beamed back by the Messenger spacecraft after its first close flyby of Mercury. The group is studying the magnetic-field data obtained as the spacecraft sling-shotted past the planet in the first spacecraft visit since Mariner 10 visited the planet 35 years ago.
